Park Maitland School’s annual Veteran’s Day assembly to features special guest speaker, Mayor Buddy Dyer.

On a day when parades and gun salutes are the norm, more than 600 students at Park Maitland School participated in something truly innovating – a heartfelt and moving Veteran’s Day assembly led by children.  With Thanksgiving right around the corner and gratitude on everyone’s mind, Park Maitland has been showing gratitude all year, as Gratitude is the school’s special 45th anniversary theme.  Filled with song, storytelling, and special student stars, the children provide a forever-memory to all the veterans and family, near and far, who served our country in the past and present.  As well, the program always includes a special keynote speaker.  This year, we were deeply honored and proud to welcome Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, as our special guest at this important and moving event.  The mayor addressed the crowd of children ages 4 to 12 and their families veterans speaking of the importance of remembering and honoring those who have served and currently serve to defend our freedom every day.  Mayor Dyer shares our belief in the importance of keeping the spirit of patriotism high in schools where we are educating tomorrow’s leaders.
